Paul Juillerat
I make intriguing, unique, abstract sculpture that has roots flowing back to my first forays into the world of art, work that inherits its space and occupies it, creating a focal point that can be revisited time and again.
I am lucky to have a variety of unusual sources for my materials, this gives me a fabulous range to draw from when deciding what direction a piece of work will take. Recent sculptures are made from hard wood, cut and reassembled into their final form and selectively painted, sometimes with the addition of other elements. I select the materials I use in response to my desire to inform and create each piece, choosing carefully to give the work its individual narrative.
Since 1990 I have been a self-employed Artist/Designer. I have also taught at a number of Art Schools including Winchester School of Art and have been an arts consultant and lead artist on projects for companies ranging from The Conran Shop, St Modwen Developments Ltd amongst many others. I exhibit widely and have work in collections worldwide as well as a number of large and small commissions in the UK. I studied Fine Art at Winchester School of Art, I have an Ma from Chelsea College of Art & Design and in 2004 I was elected a member to the Royal Society of Sculptors (But not currently).
